UTStarcom bags carrier Wi-Fi system deal from Banglalion in Bangladesh

UTStarcom today announced its contract with Banglalion Communications to support a carrier Wi-Fi system integration in Bangladesh.

Banglalion, a WiMax 4G operator in Bangladesh, will benefit from Access Controller, Access Point and EMS management system. UTStarcom will supply and integrate the carrier Wi-Fi system with a TD-LTE service to enable the operator to unify user and billing management.

Banglalion, which is currently using WiMax technology, recently received a nationwide license from BTRC to deploy 4G LTE network.

UTStarcom Carrier Wi-Fi solution will enable telecom operators to add additional features and applications in the future, giving the operators a scalable solution to meet their evolving business needs.

Earlier, UTStarcom supplied Carrier Wi-Fi solution to Softbank in Japan on pilot basis. UTStarcom co-developed this Carrier Wi-Fi solution with Softbank and it focuses on the end-user experience and large scale deployment.

In August 2014, Banglalion and Huawei signed a new agreement to upgrade and expand its LTE 4G network. Shafiqul Islam, chief operating officer, Banglalion and Shixiaojie (Colin), chief technical officer of Huawei signed the 4G deal.
