Teradek expands Cube family with new Cube x55 line

Telecom Lead Asia: Teradek, a provider of compact HD
H.264 video encoders has expanded its Cube family with the launch of the new
Cube x55 series.

The Cube x55 series comprised of four models, x155, x255,
x355, and x455, which offer a number of important new hardware and software
refinements, including an OLED screen, built-in MIMO WiFi technology, and a
built-in rechargeable battery.

The new Cube x55 product line builds on the success of
the original Cube and will continue to change the way people stream HD video.
We’ve sold more than 3,500 Cubes to date, so we spent a lot of time listening
to our customer base and studying how the original product is being used in the
field,” said Nicol Verheem, CEO of Teradek.

The new Cube x55 product line is a camera-top wireless HD
video encoder that connects with any HDMI, HD-SDI, or composite camera. The
unit streams via a built-in dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n, an Ethernet port, or a
single 3G/4G USB modem.

All of the new x55 models have the same features as the
original Cube, in addition to an OLED display for rapid configuration and real
time status, a headphone output, a built-in rechargeable Li-Ion battery with two
hours of runtime, a micro SD port for onboard proxy recording, and a full
featured MIMO WiFi access point, which will greatly improve wireless
performance and enable wireless camera control for cameras without built-in
WiFi capabilities.

The Cube x55 product family also has added support for
dozens of Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), including UStream, Justin.tv,
Livestream, YouTube Live, Akamai, and many others.
