Telefonica Digital selects Apigee as partner for API management platform

Telecom Lead Europe: Telefonica Digital, global business
division of Telefónica, has appointed Apigee as the partner for its API
management platform.

Telefonica Digital’s API management platform has been
developed with the BlueVia console.

“We are helping innovative businesses like
TelefonicaDigital execute on an API-based development model that has already
been proven by the Internet titans.
Telefonica Digital is reaching out to new
markets through developer ecosystems, and we look forward to working with them
as their API programs continue to grow,” said Chet Kapoor, CEO of Apigee.

The Apigee API platform will be supporting a
variety of
TelefonicaDigital initiatives designed to expand the ecosystem of
third-party applications built on its network-based services and assets.

Companies including AT&T, KT (Korea Telecom), Telenor, Vodafone and WAC
(Wholesale Applications Community) have adopted Apigee’s API platform.

The company claims that its Enterprise API
management platform reduces the complexity of delivering APIs, drives
developer adoption, provides comprehensive analysis and control of API usage,
and helps businesses scale as API channels grow.

Furthermore, Apigee said that by providing APIs,
businesses enable internal, partner and third-party applications to easily
integrate and connect to their Web services and data.

Apigee recently announced the opening of its
new corporate office in London, England, which will serve as the Apigee EU
headquarters.
