By Telecom Lead Team: Huawei has launched PowerCube, hybrid power
solutions, the world’s first micro-grid system communications sites, at Mobile
World Congress 2012. Telefonica plans to cooperate with Huawei at MWC to
demonstrate green site energy solutions.
The new solutions will address issues involving increased power
consumption and energy shortages. Local operators face significant pressures as
traditional sites generate high fuel consumption and maintenance costs, and in
rural areas, more than 500,000 communication sites have unstable grids.
Huawei designed the PowerCube to help operators overcome growing
challenges. PowerCube uses Huawei H.E.BUS technology to incorporate additional
energy sources, such as solar, to achieve a uniform energy platform and
intelligent switching that will enable operators to significantly reduce energy
usage and CO2 emissions.
At MWC 2012, Huawei’s advanced green solutions have attracted the
interest of operators such as Telefonica, MTN, Vodafone, AT&T, Telenor, FT,
and DT.

and energy will build a solid foundation for the transformation of the ICT
industry. We expect Huawei, as a comprehensive ICT solutions provider can work
together with partners in telecommunication energy industry to develop better
