Pacnet to expand 10G IP transit service to Chennai, India in first half of 2012

By Telecom Lead Team: Pacnet, a communications provider, will be expanding Pacnet 10G IP Transit availability across more locations, with availability in Chennai planned within the first half of 2012.The company has recently launched its 10G IP Transit service in Nagoya, Seoul, and Taipei. Pacnet 10G IP Transit is now available in 12 cities across 8 countries, namely Auckland, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Los Angeles, Nagoya, Osaka, San Jose, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Tokyo.

“Streaming video, cloud computing and social media channels have been driving a huge increase in the demand for Internet bandwidth. This latest service expansion is part of our strategy to upgrade our IP Transit service to 10G across major locations to enable our service provider customers to deliver the higher speeds demanded by today’s always-connected businesses and consumers,” said Hideo Ishii, vice president of Product Strategy and Management, IP and Cloud Services, Pacnet.

Pacnet’s IP Transit services rides on Pacnet’s IP backbone, one of Asia’s largest at over 340 Gbps of international IP backbone capacity and has a global reach that extends beyond Asia to Europe and US. Pacnet’s IP network is backed by peering agreements to major overseas networks and top content providers.

Through Pacnet Premium IP Transit, Internet Service Providers are able to obtain one-hop global connectivity to major Internet peering points and content providers for high-performance, cost-effective Internet connectivity to all worldwide domains, while the more cost-effective Pacnet Prime IP Transit meets the needs of customers with less stringent transit performance requirements.
