NSN plans mobile broadband security center in Berlin

Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) is planning to set up its mobile broadband security center in Berlin.

NSN is looking at creating a platform for knowledge exchange on mobile broadband-related telecom security research with customers, business and research partners, and public authorities.

The mobile broadband security center, which will be part of NSN’s Berlin office, will be operational in the second half of 2014, NSN said in a statement.

It will allow security testing for multi-vendor mobile broadband environments. NSN and its partners will be able to simulate threat scenarios and assess security solutions to ensure best scalability and efficiency of the solutions.

The center will assist telecom operators to reduce mobile threats. Mobile malware grew 614 percent from March 2012 to March 2013 and there are more than 500 app stores that contain malicious apps, said NSN.

NSN, which has managed more than 500 security projects, has recently launched Mobile Guard that complements its Content Security solution to deliver protection right through to subscribers’ devices even if they have no anti-malware protection software.
