NigComSat taps iDirect to deploy an Evolution-based service in Nigeria

Telecom Lead Europe: Nigerian Communications Satellite,
an African satellite network operator, has selected VT iDirect’s iDirect Series
15100 Universal Satellite hub to deploy an Evolution-based service to capture
the growing broadband market in Nigeria.

The investment in iDirect Evolution platform will allow
NIGCOMSAT to enhance its existing VSAT solutions for military and government
customers.

The iDirect Evolution platform will enable NIGCOMSAT to
pursue new opportunities in the enterprise and education markets. iDirect is a
world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology.

Furthermore, the iDirect Evolution platform will enable
NIGCOMSAT to deliver affordable deployable Internet service across Nigeria and
the West African sub region for a range of applications and end users.

“iDirect’s solutions enable us to offer a broadband
service that meets the diverse requirements of multiple end users, and can grow
to meet future connectivity challenges,” said T Ahmed Rufai, managing
director/chief executive, NIGCOMSAT.

iDirect’s integration with fiber networks enables
NIGCOMSAT to deliver broadband connectivity to remote communities.

“There is tremendous potential for growth in Africa,
but much of that potential hinges on developing an infrastructure that can
support high-speed data sharing and broadband Internet access. The iDirect
platform offers NIGCOMSAT a high-performing and flexible solution that supports
the company’s goal of building a more open and connected Africa,” said Majdi
Atout, regional vice president, Europe, iDirect.

Additionally, iDirect’s Evolution platform provides
NIGCOMSAT with a scalable platform that can keep pace with rapid broadband
growth in Nigeria.
