Liberty Latin America has selected Ericsson in order to upgrade its mobile core network in the Caribbean and Latin America.
Ericsson is the sole mobile core network vendor for Liberty Latin America for the network modernization drive.
Liberty Latin America had a capital expenditure of $149 million during the first quarter of 2020.
Ericsson, according to the three-year deal, will be deploying virtualized mobile core network solutions to serve the regional Liberty Latin America market under a virtualized mobile core consolidation project. Liberty Latin America said deployment is expected to get underway in the second half of 2020.
Liberty Latin America’s mobile core networks will be fully virtualized, even more resilient, and prepared for future mobile technologies by the end of this three-year project, said Vivek Khemka, chief technology and product officer of Liberty Latin America.
