IMC Networks unveils 10 Gigabit media converter solution for long haul applications

By Telecom Lead America: IMC Networks, a manufacturer of
low cost media converters and Ethernet fiber optic access solutions, has
launched the new iMcV-10G-Converter XFP/XFP media converter. The SNMP
manageable converter can be employed in fiber mode conversion and/or fiber
extension applications.

The iMcV-10G-Converter can be installed into network
operators’ 10 GbE applications. The new media converter utilizes high-speed XFP transceivers that
are protocol independent and support multiple distances to offer network
operators increased flexibility. The dual-port, modular mode converter extends
10 Gbps Ethernet over fiber up to 80 km.

The days of bonding multiple 1 Gig connections together
to accommodate the bandwidth needs between switches are over. 10 Gig equipment
is now economically priced and more efficient. Our new iMcV-10G-Converter fits
into these types of applications where mixing and matching different types of
media are required,” said David Zaveski, Sr. technical sales engineer.

The iMcV-10G-Converter also offers user selectable FX
LinkLoss, Configuration Control and XFP Loopback. Support for 3R’s (Re-amplify,
Re-shape, Re-time) optical signal regeneration is also standard. When installed
in a chassis and paired with a SNMP Management Module, network operators can
monitor XFP status such as temperature, voltage, and output power, in addition
to configuring features and Trap notifications. Both ports on the module
support copper, fiber and variable speed XFP modules.

The iMcV-10G-Converter XFP/XFP media converter is now
available for purchase. Model 860-12100 lists for $790.  IMC Networks
plans to launch an SFP+ version in Q’2.

IMC Networks unveils new low cost PoE and PoE+ gigabit media
converters

Recently, IMC Networks released its Power over Ethernet
(PoE) media converter product line with the new PoE and PoE+_Giga-MiniMcs.
