Huawei unveils fully outdoor WDM product for LTE / LTE-A

Telecom network vendor Huawei has released fully outdoor Wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) product at TDC A/S and Huawei Joint Global WDM/OTN Seminar – targeting LTE / LTE-A common public radio interface (CPRI) services.

The telecom product helps to slash cost of network deployment and operations and maintenance, realizing the baseband unit cloud (BBU Cloud).

Huawei claims that it assisted telecoms worldwide to build over 500 metro WDM networks.

The fully outdoor Huawei WDM product replaces optical fiber connections with WDM technology, said Huawei in a statement. This results in a pair of optical fibers able to withstand more than 100 pairs of CPRI services.

Huawei product reduces network investment and shortens service deployment time, providing a reliable network by using a unique delay compensation technology. The product supports remote performance monitoring and precise fault locating using a Network Management System.

It adopts a fully outdoor design, supports 614 Mbit/s to 9.8 Gbit/s (CPRI1-CPRI7) service on the client side. Huawei said this design provides a product suitable for dense and large-capacity metropolitan areas.
