Huawei bets on 4.5G technology at GSMA Mobile 360 Series

Telecom network vendor Huawei today released its 4.5G vision at the GSMA Mobile 360 Series.

Huawei 4.5G will be available in 2016. The new technology aims to provide users with ultra-high definition, 3D and possibly holographic videos.

The Chinese telecom equipment vendor’s plans for 4.5G will lead mobile communications into the Gigabit era for the first time.

The 4.5G technology is capable of boosting Internet of Everything (IoE) as well as service-oriented network architecture prior to 5G being commercialized.

Huawei is also currently working on 5G technologies along with rivals such as Ericsson, ZTE, Nokia Networks, etc.

Ying Weimin, President of Huawei Wireless Network Research and Development

Ying Weimin, president of Huawei Wireless Network Research and Development, said: “4.5G will be offering faster speeds, lower latency and better functionality than the best 4G technologies currently available. It will open up new revenue streams for telecom operators resulting in a healthier and more profitable mobile broadband business.”

Key features of 4.5G technology include the ability to have lower latency at 10ms, a peak download rate of around 6 Gbps and the support of 100,000 connections within a one kilometer square.
