Announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2015) on Monday, Huawei said the development will assist Globe Telecom to optimize its wireless network performance, operation and maintenance (O&M) in order to manage the growth of mobile data services traffic.
Recently, Globe Telecom tested Huawei SingleSON solution at its mobile network’s 20,000 2G, 3G and 4G cells and achieved improvement on both drop call rates as well as users’ throughput. It also exhibited better sharing of radio resources between layers and technologies. Globe plans to deploy the SingleSON solution nationwide in 2015.
“The capabilities of SingleSON solution in improving our network’s O&M efficiency and performance are impressive. It will allow us to deliver a great user experience without additional manpower resources to manage an increasingly more complex network,” said Globe Chief Technical Advisor Robert Tan.
Jiang Wangcheng, president of Huawei SingleOSS Product Line, said the SingleSON technology will be further developed and enhanced with the development of 4.5G, 5G, and other wireless technologies.
Huawei is already doing several trials of the SingleSON in more than 25 networks in countries and regions such as China, Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa, South America, Australia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
