Telecom equipment maker Ericsson has sold Ericsson Power Modules (EPM) business to technology and Sketch-to-Scale solutions provider Flex.
The divestment is part of Ericsson’s strategy to focus on businesses such as networks, digital services and IoT.
More than 300 employees and consultants will be moving to Flex Power from Ericsson. Ericsson in a statement said that its Power Modules business includes Shanghai Ericsson Electronics Corporation, a manufacturing site in China, and business assets in Sweden.
“In line with our strategy, we are focusing our business on fewer core areas. The power modules business is a perfect fit for Flex,” said Christian Hedelin, head of Strategy, Business Area Networks, Ericsson.
Nate Vince, president of Flex Power, said: “In addition to enhancing power capabilities and Sketch-to-Scale solutions, we will expand our offerings to the cloud and telecom data center markets.”
Ericsson Power Modules manufactures power supply products for information and communications equipment, including radio base stations, switches and routers, as well as additional computing and industrial applications.
