Ciena has expanded its campus in Gurgaon, India, to support the company’s growth of research and development (R&D) globally.
As part of the expansion, Ciena, one of the telecom infrastructure suppliers to mobile service providers, added a second building adjacent to its existing Gurgaon office bringing together the company’s R&D staff, labs and resources into a single location.

The size of the Ciena’s Gurgaon campus is over 275,000 square feet, including more than 8,000 square feet of research and development labs. The facility now has the capacity for 1,500 people.
Since opening in 2006, the Ciena India campus is the company’s second largest location in the world. The Gurgaon center has more than 1,200 people approximately, representing 20 percent of Ciena’s global workforce, Ciena said.
The company did not reveal its recruitment plans in India and investment for the expansion of the facility.
Ciena India is the company’s largest R&D facility outside of North America, focusing on all of Ciena’s solutions from converged packet-optical to software to packet. The campus also houses additional sales, services and administrative functions supporting domestic, regional, and global operations.
