Chunghwa Telecom selects Network Equipment Technologies

Network
Equipment Technologies announced that Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Taiwan’s tier one
carrier, is deploying the first IP-based communications network for Air
Navigation and Weather Services (ANWS) in Taiwan using NET’s high performance
NX1000 platform.

The NX1000,
an IP-enabled platform with an on-board IP trunk module, provided the core
switch for the ANWS’s communications traffic, including radar signal, voice,
remote control signaling, and data channels in terminal control centers and air
traffic control towers throughout southern Taiwan.

NET’s NX Series
networking platforms provide high-grade data transfer between storage area
networks (SANs) and wide area networks (WANs) and enable secure grid computing.
The NX1000 provides a flexible, cost-effective IP aggregation solution that
facilitates migration of legacy traffic to IP.

The initial
project was for the South Region Digital Communication Backbone Network System,
which was commissioned in December 2010. The solution utilized NET’s dual-shelf
NX1000 with MPLS to deliver voice and data traffic through CHT’s network to
ANWS’s 11 sites and allowed ANWS to migrate their existing TDM circuit network
to an IP-based network.

ANWS expects
to integrate the southern communications network with the 13 sites in its
northern region, the Northern Region Digital Communication Backbone Network
System.

“Our
ability to quickly migrate ANWS’s legacy TDM network to an IP environment was
critical to the success of this solution. Teaming with Chunghwa Telecom, we
were able to rapidly put the solution into production right away,” said
Francois Le, vice president, Global Sales, NET.

Network Equipment Technologies recently announced
a set of new global support initiatives.

Under the new
NET Global Support offering, customers now have access to global support
services via a single contact point. The centralized global support hub is
available on request 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through a web-based
platform.
