Broadband Antenna Tracking Systems (BATS) and DragonWave,
a supplier of packet microwave radio systems for mobile and access networks
announced the integration of BATS’ automatic antenna aiming and tracking
technology with DragonWave’s Horizon packet microwave solutions.
Representing breakthrough technology, BATS’ auto-aiming
and tracking system uses proprietary search patterns and predictive algorithms
to automatically setup and allows mobility for broadband radios.
When coupled with DragonWave’s Horizon Compact and
Horizon Compact Plus, capacity of 500 Mbps to 1 Gbps per 56-MHz channel is delivered
between fixed-to-mobile or mobile-to-mobile locations.
BATS automates antenna alignment and
typically acquires a wireless network link within minutes, then monitors network
performance to automatically reposition the antenna and maintain optimal
wireless network throughput. In effect, the system enhances mobility while
simplifying the installer’s tasks.
The integrated system from BATS and DragonWave
offers great benefits to industries such as oil and gas exploration, emergency
response and the military, where operational environments lack infrastructure
and are often in remote or environmentally hostel locations, and allows for
more streamlined communication and data management processes.

video and other data from blimps to a ground station.
The blimp is a recognized entity at a range of sporting
events, from baseball to football games. Sports broadcasters and marketing
agencies often use blimps to capture action footage of sporting events and
stream live video feeds to communication stations located on the ground.
