NBN Co’s broadband project targets both homes and businesses across Australia.

NBC Co last week said its network covered 10,066 additional lots / premises during the week, of which 7,463 were in Brownfield and 1,677 were in Greenfield areas. Fixed wireless coverage increased by 926 premises. The network activated services in an additional 5,451 premises, including 5,003 on fixed line services and 448 using satellite and fixed wireless technologies.

HFC technology will support NBN Co to build upon existing cable infrastructure. The main benefits include significant cost savings, better broadband speeds for Australian broadband consumers.

As per the broadband networking deal, ARRIS will assist NBN Co to manage its cable access network while providing a roadmap for possible future migration to DOCSIS 3.1 architecture.

NBN will deploy ARRIS E6000TM Converged Edge Router (CER) along with a number of additional ARRIS product lines, including: ARRIS Access Technologies and Supplies (ATS) products (CORWave forward path transmitters and OM4100 optical receivers) and Assurance solutions for service assurance.

ARRIS’s Global Services will assist NBN Co for the deployment and network integration of the national broadband service. In addition, ARRIS Global Services group will assist NBN Co in managing and supporting its network and customers.

“An HFC network represents the fastest and most cost-effective way to deliver it to consumers and businesses in the existing HFC network areas,” said Dennis Steiger, CTO of NBN Co.
