Alcatel-Lucent to acquire Mformation to boost IoT security biz

Telecom network vendor Alcatel-Lucent announced the deal to acquire Mformation, a provider of mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) security and device management solutions for mobile service providers and enterprises.

Alcatel-Lucent did not disclose the financial terms of the deal to buy the Woodbridge, NJ- headquartered Mformation which has more than 20 service provider customers, managing more than 500 million devices.

The strategy of Alcatel-Lucent is to offer IoT security and control platform for use across multiple industries including automotive, healthcare, utilities, manufacturing and the digital home. Alcatel-Lucent will add Mformation to its IP Platforms organization.

Mformation’s software products will enhance the capabilities of Alcatel-Lucent’s Motive Customer Experience Management (CEM) solution to provide device management solution across home, mobile and enterprise networks, said Rakesh Kushwaha, founder and chief technology officer of Mformation.

Alcatel-Lucent is aiming to build strong revenues in an industry where more than 50 million IoT devices have been hacked or recalled in the past six months alone.
