The worldwide sales of semiconductors reached $30.9 billion in March 2017, according to statistics from Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).

The annual growth in semiconductor sales was 18.1 percent from $26.2 billion in March 2016, while sequential growth was 1.6 percent from $30.4 billion in February 2017.

Sales during the first quarter of 2017 were $92.6 billion, up 18.1 percent compared to the first quarter of 2016 but down 0.4 percent compared to the last quarter of 2016. All monthly sales numbers are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average.

“Global sales are up 18 percent compared to last year, the largest increase since October 2010, with all major regional markets posting double-digit year-to-year growth. All major semiconductor product categories also experienced year-to-year growth, with memory products continuing to lead the way,” said John Neuffer, president and CEO, Semiconductor Industry Association.

Growth of year-to-year sales in semiconductor was 26.7 percent in China, 21.9 percent in Americas, 11.9 percent in Asia Pacific / All Other, 11.1 percent in Europe, and 10.7 percent in Japan, said SIA in a statement on Monday.

The report said that the month-to-month sales increase in Europe was 5 percent, 3.6 percent in Japan, 2.9 percent in Asia Pacific/All Other, and 0.2 percent in China. The semiconductor industry in the Americas fell 0.5 percent in March 2017.
