Qualcomm Technologies has launched the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Mobile Platform and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, bringing improved gaming, smoother app performance, stronger AI camera features and longer battery life to mid-range and entry-level smartphones.

The new Snapdragon platforms are designed to improve everyday smartphone experiences for consumers by focusing on faster app launches, smoother navigation, better graphics performance and reliable 5G connectivity. Qualcomm said both chipsets introduce Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI technology, reducing screen stutter and improving responsiveness across apps and gaming.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 platform delivers 20 percent faster app launches and 18 percent lower screen stutter, helping consumers experience smoother multitasking, faster scrolling and more stable gaming sessions. The chipset also delivers up to 21 percent better GPU performance, enabling richer graphics and more immersive mobile gaming experiences.
For smartphone users who frequently capture photos and videos, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 introduces AI-powered camera enhancements designed to improve image quality and optimize photo capture in different lighting conditions. Qualcomm also added the Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0, which is aimed at delivering smoother and longer gaming sessions without excessive battery drain.
The platform further enhances connectivity with ultra-fast 5G and Wi-Fi 7 support, allowing consumers to experience faster downloads, lower latency and improved streaming quality on compatible networks.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 platform targets affordable smartphones with a major boost in graphics and gaming performance. Qualcomm said the chipset offers up to 77 percent improved GPU performance and introduces 90FPS gameplay support to the Snapdragon 4-series for the first time, bringing smoother mobile gaming experiences to lower-cost devices.
Consumers using smartphones powered by Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 can also benefit from 43 percent faster app launches and 25 percent lower screen stutter, improving daily activities such as social media browsing, video streaming and mobile payments.
The chipset additionally supports Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) 5G + 5G/4G connectivity, allowing users to stay connected on two networks simultaneously without compromising network performance. This feature can benefit users who separate work and personal mobile numbers or frequently travel across regions.
Chenwei Yan, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, said the company is focusing on balancing performance, power efficiency and connectivity to bring premium smartphone experiences to more users globally.
Jun Li said the new Snapdragon platforms will help smartphone brands improve device responsiveness, battery efficiency and connectivity across multiple price categories. Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 will appear in upcoming smartphones from Honor and REDMI, while Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 will debut in devices from OPPO, realme and REDMI.
