Sony Ericsson unveils Xperia ray and Xperia active

Sony Ericsson in collaboration with Qualcomm announced
the launch of its latest smartphone portfolio — Xperia ray and Xperia active.

These smartphones are on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread
platform, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S2 processor and comes with Sony’s camera
technologies.

With a 3.3 inch screen, the Xperia ray is loaded with 1
GHz processor, fabulous camera capabilities, and HD video recording. The Xperia
active is a compact smartphone targeting consumers with an active lifestyle.

Being dust proof and water resistant does not stop this
phone from being supported by the same technologies as the Xperia ray.

We aim to reach to all those that are young at heart and
indulge in gadgets that imbibe style and utility. The launch of the Xperia ray
and active continues our journey into tapping the smartphone market in India.
With the launch of Xperia arc and PLAY in April, we marked a milestone through
the collaborations and innovations we brought to the market,” said P. Balaji,
managing director – India, Sony Ericsson.

While the Xperia ray makes for a sleek companion, the
Xperia active is the perfect partner for Indian consumers with a hectic
lifestyle, especially those who are outdoors. The unique proposition of our
phones is strengthened by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S2 processor that ensures that
users run multiple apps smoothly and do more than one thing on-the-go,” Balaji
added.

We congratulate Sony Ericsson on the launch of Xperia
ray and Xperia active, powered by Qualcomm’s highly integrated Snapdragon S2
processor,” said Sandeep Sibal, Country Manager and Vice President, Business
Development, Qualcomm India and South Asia.

This launch also marks Sony Ericsson’s integration of
Facebook inside Xperia, which delivers a unique consumer experience for
greater social interaction. In combination with Google services, as well as
access to over 200,000 apps via the Android Market, it provides a solid and
entertaining smartphone foundation. This service will be available across the
entire Sony Ericsson portfolio.

The new Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphones run on the
Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 processor that provides advanced processing power and
concurrency capabilities, and lets users run multiple advanced apps
simultaneously with minimal drag on performance or battery life.

Users on the Xperia ray can click using its front camera,
upload pictures on Facebook, and choose to do more without any glitch, while
those on the Xperia active can concurrently monitor their heart rate and pulse,
use the iMapMyFitness app to monitor day to day performance, and even track
their ideal training routes, using the built in GPS.
