Smartphone market in Indonesia to grow by 8% to 44 mn: IDC

Smartphone market in Indonesia is forecast to grow by 8 percent to 44 million units in 2022, according to IDC report.
Indonesia smartphone shipment in Q4 2021Smartphone market in Indonesia rose 11 percent to 40.9 million smartphones. The first half of 2021 recorded growth of 47 percent compared to 1H20 and 20 percent against 1H19, although the market slowed in 2H21.

OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, Samsung and Realme are the leading suppliers of smartphones in Indonesia during the third quarter of 2021.
Indonesia top smartphone vendors in Q4 2021Smartphone vendors are expected to start stocking up before the Ramadan festive period, and to prepare for changes in the Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri (TKDN) local content regulation, as well as tax increases in April 2022. Channel players also may stock up before the tax rate is increased from the current 10 percent to 11 percent, says Vanessa Aurelia, Associate Market Analyst from IDC Indonesia.

The recent merger between Indosat Ooredoo and Hutchison 3 is expected to further accelerate the growth of 4G and 5G network in Indonesia.
