Samsung aims 10 million Galaxy S3 phone by end of July

Telecom Lead Asia: Smartphone giant Samsung Electronics
expects to sell 10 million Galaxy S3 smartphones by the end of next month.

Despite shortage of parts such as the handset casing for
the pebble-blue model, the smartphone shipments are on a constant high.

We’re getting more positive reviews for Galaxy S3 than the
previous Galaxy S1 and S2 since the release in Europe, the Middle East and
Southeast Asia beginning May 29,” said J.K. Shin, head of Samsung’s mobile
communications division.

The South Korean manufacturer reckons that robust sales
of S3 would help Samsung’s mobile business post a second-quarter profit bigger
than the first three months.

Currently available in 147 countries, the company expects
to sell about a million smartphones at home.

The company has recently launched Galaxy S3 in the U.S with T-Mobile and said that AT&T,
Sprint, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular will be offering Galaxy S III over
their networks within the next several weeks.

Moreover, due to tight supply, major carriers including
Sprint Nextel Corp, T-Mobile and AT&T have not been able to offer the
Galaxy with 32 gigabytes of memory.

Samsung posted net profit for all its divisions of 5.05
trillion won (US$4.44 billion) in the first quarter, largely supported by
strong smartphone sales.

Samsung shipped 44.5 million smartphones in the first
quarter, surpassing 35.1 million shipments of Apple.

Samsung partners with Visa to enable GALAXY S III with Visa
payWave

The company also associated with Visa to enable its
latest Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone with Visa’s mobile payment
application, Visa payWave.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 will be Samsung’s Olympic Games
Phone during the London 2012 Games.
