Apple posted revenue of $28.27 billion in fourth quarter ended September
24, 2011 as compared with $20.34 billion in the corresponding period last year.
Its net profit grew to $6.62 billion in Q4 from $4.31 billion in the
year-ago quarter.
Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) contributed significant growth. Revenue
from Asia Pacific was $6530 million in Q4 FY 2011 as compared with $2,732
million, registering 139 percent increase.
Sales in America increased to $9,648 million from $7,186 million, clocking
34 percent growth. Japan was a disappointing market for Apple during Q4 FY
2011. Sales in Japan decreased 21 percent to $1,111 million from $1,401
million.
The company sold 17.07 million iPhones in the quarter, representing 21
percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter.
Revenue from iPhones increased to $10,980 million in Q4 FY 2011 from
$8,822 million in the year-ago quarter, showing 24 percent growth.
Apple sold 11.12 million iPads during the quarter, a 166 percent unit
increase over the year-ago quarter.
iPad revenue increased by 146 percent to report $6,868 million from
$2,792 million.
The company sold 4.89 million Macs during the quarter, a 26 percent unit
increase over the year-ago quarter. Apple sold 6.62 million iPods, a 27 percent
unit decline from the year-ago quarter.
“We are thrilled with the very strong finish of an outstanding fiscal
2011, growing annual revenue to $108 billion and growing earnings to $26
billion,” said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple.
“Customer response to iPhone 4S has been fantastic, we have strong
momentum going into the holiday season, and we remain really enthusiastic about
our product pipeline,” Cook added.
