Optiemus and Wistron to invest $200 mn to make telecom products

Optiemus Infracom and Wistron, an original design manufacturer (ODM) in Taiwan, announced a joint venture to set up manufacturing facilities for telecom products in India with an investment of $200 million over the next five years.

The joint venture will address the growing Indian and global demands of telecom products such as, smartphones, tablets and smart devices. The new JV company targets to create 15,000 employment opportunities in India, over the next five years.

The partnership aims to provide solution including manufacturing infrastructure, distribution, retail and after sales to global and Indian brands.

By 2017, India is expected to overtake USA to be the second largest smartphone market globally, as per research firm IDC.

“We intend to emerge as one of the top three third party manufacturers in the country in the next five years. Our expertise in design, manufacturing, distribution, retail and after sales services will provide better solution for brands in India,” said Ravinder Zutshi, managing director of Optiemus Infracom.
