AI-Powered Voice Calls: GSMA Unveils New Standards at MWC 2026
At MWC Barcelona 2026, the GSMA released new experience specifications for AI calling in native applications, providing a framework for telecom operators to integrate artificial intelligence into traditional voice services. Detailed in a new white paper, the guidelines explain how AI algorithms and computing capabilities can be embedded into IMS-based voice networks, enabling advanced features such as AI-powered noise reduction, real-time transcription, and instant language translation during calls. The initiative aims to help operators adapt voice networks for the emerging “mobile AI era,” transforming conventional phone calls into more intelligent and interactive communication services while enhancing overall user experience.
Eoptolink Unleashes Ultra-Fast, Liquid-Cooled Optics to Supercharge AI Data Centers
Eoptolink Technology is transforming AI and cloud data center performance with two major breakthroughs unveiled at OFC 2026. The company introduced a 1.6T DR4 OSFP optical transceiver with IMDD 400G-per-lambda and PAM4 DSP architecture, cutting fiber usage by 50 percent compared to DR8 designs while remaining compatible with 102.4T switches. Alongside this, Eoptolink showcased the industry’s first 12.8 Tbps liquid-cooled pluggable optical module, supporting 64 lanes at 200 Gbps and delivering up to 204.8 Tbps front-panel density in a 4-RU rack. It’s cold-plate liquid-cooling system dissipates up to 400W per module, enabling energy-efficient, high-capacity AI workloads and scalable next-generation data center infrastructure.
Comcast Supercharges Quad Cities with New High-Speed Business Network
Comcast has announced plans to expand its high-speed broadband network into the Quad Cities region, bringing advanced connectivity and technology solutions to businesses for the first time. The rollout will cover key commercial areas including Moline, East Moline and Rock Island in Illinois, as well as Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa.
