Microsoft Devices adds budget phone Nokia 130 for Rs 1,557

Microsoft Devices on Monday announced the launch of Nokia 130, a budget mobile phone for telecom markets such as China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Vietnam, at a price of $25.45 or Rs 1557 or 19 euros.

It comes with 1.8″ QQVGA display.

Microsoft says 1020mAh battery offers up to 36 days standby for single SIM and 26 days for dual SIM; 13 hours 2G talk time; 46 hours music playback; 16 hours video playback.

Connectivity options include USB 2.0, 3.5mm AV Connector, microSD, Bluetooth 3.0 with SLAM.

Nokia 130 has 32GB micro SD card support.

Nokia 130 features built-in video player, music player with up to 46 hours playback on a single charge, and a flashlight, FM radio and USB charging, etc.

Microsoft is targeting to increase phone market share with the launch of the Nokia 130.

The company says people buy 300 million phones from the below $35 price category. It is estimated that at least 1 billion people in the world still do not have a mobile phone, said Microsoft.

“As demand in the affordable mobile segment continues to grow, Microsoft remains committed to delivering market-leading mobile innovation at each and every price point,” said Jo Harlow, corporate vice president for Phones, Microsoft.

It is expected to begin shipping in the third quarter of this year.
