It hopes to achieve $1 billion in revenues with its product strategy, strong distribution and marketing focused on the Indian youth.

Micromax’s stunning growth will impact Samsung and Nokia in India.

IDC says Micromax smartphone market share increased from 18.8 percent to 22 percent. Samsung smartphone share stands at 26 percent in Q2. This is despite spending crores of rupees in marketing and product innovation by the Korean giant.

“We have received overwhelming response to the Canvas series which has seen unprecedented success with innovative products like Canvas HD, Canvas 4 & Canvas Doodle 2,” Micromax said.

IDC says Micromax phablet share steadily rose to 30 percent of smartphone market in Q2 2013.
