ALCATEL ONE TOUCH preloads Android smartphones with OANDA mobile app

ALCATEL ONE TOUCH has selected to preload
its Android smartphones with a co-branded version of the Android
Currency Converter mobile app developed by OANDA, a provider of innovative
mobile and online currency applications, data, and custom solutions.

“Currency conversion utilities are one of the top
financial apps that mobile users download to their devices, because they’re
useful in many situations-for example when traveling, tracking foreign
expenses, or online shopping,” said George Guo, CEO of TCL Communication
Technology, which uses ALCATEL ONE TOUCH as one of its brands.

“OANDA is a leader in the foreign exchange industry
and has a reputation for providing innovative applications based on quality
data. We liked the fact that their mobile currency converter app has been
downloaded almost 1.5 million times in 2011, and that the Android version
includes a widget that can be installed to display a handy ‘cheat sheet’ of
rates, updated daily, on a phone’s home screen,” Guo added.

OANDA also has mobile Currency Converter apps for iPhone,
Blackberry, Windows Phone 7, Symbian, and J2ME enabled devices.

“Our partnership with ALCATEL ONE TOUCH is an
opportunity to reach its smartphone users with a custom-branded version of our
Android currency converter. Our app gives them immediate access to the same
daily, filtered exchange rates used by global banks and auditing firms,”
said Michael Stumm, CEO, OANDA Corporation.

Few days back, Alcatel-Lucent announced
that it has been selected by French service provider Bouygues Telecom to help
address the burgeoning demand for broadband services.
