Intel strengthens leadership team with key engineering and revenue appointments

Intel has announced several high-profile leadership appointments as CEO Lip-Bu Tan accelerates a strategic overhaul aimed at revitalizing the chipmaker’s business. The changes align with Intel’s sharpened focus on engineering innovation, customer satisfaction, and execution in the foundry and AI sectors.

Greg Ernst, a seasoned Intel veteran with over two decades at the company, has been appointed Chief Revenue Officer. Known for his strong customer focus and extensive sales leadership, Greg Ernst most recently headed Intel’s U.S. sales and marketing operations. He will continue reporting directly to Tan and play a critical role in driving revenue growth.

In a move to strengthen Intel’s engineering leadership, the company has brought in Srinivasan Iyengar, Jean-Didier Allegrucci, and Shailendra Desai, each of whom brings deep industry expertise and a track record of innovation.

Srinivasan Iyengar joins Intel from Cadence Design Systems as SVP and Fellow. He will lead a Customer Engineering Center of Excellence and report to Lip-Bu Tan. Srinivasan Iyengar brings experience in silicon engineering and has deep knowledge in building custom silicon solutions for hyperscale data centers.

Jean-Didier Allegrucci takes the role of VP of AI System on Chip (SoC) Engineering. Formerly with Rain AI and Apple, Jean-Didier Allegrucci will lead the development of multiple AI SoCs central to Intel’s roadmap. He will report to Sachin Katti, Intel’s Chief Technology and AI Officer.

Shailendra Desai, previously at Google, will serve as VP of AI Fabric and Networking, focusing on innovative SoC architectures for Intel’s AI GPU strategy. Shailendra Desai, who founded and led Provino Technologies before its acquisition by Google, also reports to Sachin Katti.

Intel has also restructured its board, with three members not seeking reelection in 2025 — another signal of Tan’s intent to refocus the company with more semiconductor-specific expertise at the helm.
