AI Push Fuels Telecom Rally as Jio IPO Buzz Builds

India’s telecom sector is gaining momentum as AI-driven investments accelerate demand for advanced digital infrastructure. A major AI hub initiative backed by Google is expected to boost network capacity needs, benefiting operators across the market. Reliance Jio is drawing attention with a potential 2026 IPO that could value the company between $120–170 billion, making it one of India’s largest listings. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel continues to see growth in revenue per user and subscriber base. Vodafone Idea has gained temporary relief through regulatory support, improving short-term stability despite ongoing financial challenges.

Iran Calls on ITU to Condemn Alleged Telecom Infrastructure Attacks

Iran has urged the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to denounce what it claims are US and Israeli attacks on its telecommunications infrastructure during recent regional tensions. According to Iranian officials, the strikes targeted key communication networks, disrupting internet services and damaging critical facilities, including academic and research centers. The ICT minister described the actions as violations of international law and the UN Charter, emphasizing their impact on civilian connectivity and national infrastructure. Iran also reported widespread internet outages linked to the incidents. The country has appealed for global accountability while reaffirming its right to self-defense, warning against the politicization of international telecom bodies.

MTN Ghana’s $1.1 bn Push to Expand Connectivity Nationwide

MTN Ghana has announced a $1.1 billion investment over three years to enhance its telecom infrastructure and extend nationwide coverage. The initiative focuses on expanding 4G and 5G networks, increasing capacity, and improving service reliability to meet growing data demand. The company plans to deploy new base stations, upgrade existing systems, and strengthen digital platforms. This investment will also support emerging technologies such as AI and cloud services, helping businesses and consumers benefit from improved connectivity.
