Reliance Jio Performance in Srinagar

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) conducted an Independent Drive Test (IDT) in Srinagar, where Reliance Jio recorded the highest 5G download speed at 469.09 Mbps. Jio also showed strong performance in low latency, call setup success, call connection time, and call drop rate. The test covered key business, residential, and traffic-heavy zones. Jio’s network enabled continuous video streaming, real-time gaming, and virtual meetings. The report reflects Jio’s capability to deliver service stability across dense and high-demand areas, supporting real-time applications and data-heavy usage. These metrics illustrate the evolution of telecom infrastructure in supporting increased bandwidth and connectivity requirements.

Telecom Sector Hiring and Workforce Trends

India’s telecom sector, with 1.17 billion subscribers, is set to add 500 million new internet users by 2030, driven by mobile penetration and reduced data costs. According to TeamLease EdTech’s Career Outlook Report (HY1 2025), 45 percent fresher hiring intent is projected for January–June 2025. The sector requires 22 million skilled professionals by 2025 across IoT, AI, robotics, and 5G-related roles. Demand is strong for RF Engineers, Network Security Analysts, and DevOps Engineers in cities like Delhi, Bangalore, and Pune. Employers value certifications in cybersecurity and cloud networking, and also require skills in project management software and soft skills like communication and adaptability.

SK Telecom Cyberattack

SK Telecom, South Korea’s largest telecom provider, suffered a data breach affecting 25 million subscribers. Malware was installed on June 15, 2022, and went undetected until April 2025, when 9GB of SIM-related data was exfiltrated. The malware, identified as BPFdoor, is associated with Salt Typhoon, a group known for attacks on global telecoms. No theft of call detail records (CDRs) has been confirmed. Experts warn that even encrypted data can be compromised if encryption keys are poorly managed. South Korean cybersecurity experts suspect state-linked actors, including the Red Mansion APT group, were involved. No user fraud or extortion has been reported, suggesting motives beyond financial gain.
