IEC Telecom Strengthens APAC Push with New Indonesia Entity to Boost Digital Connectivity

IEC Telecom Group has launched a dedicated local entity, PT IEC Telecom Indonesia, marking a major expansion of its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The Jakarta-based office strengthens the company’s long-term strategy to serve Indonesia’s rapidly growing demand for satellite-based connectivity across its 17,000-island archipelago. The move builds on customer relationships established since 2024 and aims to bridge digital gaps in remote villages, plantations, offshore operations, and maritime sectors. The initiative aligns with Indonesia’s Digital Vision 2045 and Golden Indonesia 2045 goals focused on inclusive connectivity. IEC Telecom will deliver multi-orbit solutions combining LEO, GEO, and LTE technologies to support government programs, logistics, energy, and public services nationwide. The expansion underscores rising regional investment in resilient digital infrastructure.

Green Telco Revolution: STC and Huawei Unveil Energy-Saving Cloud for a Low-Carbon Telecom Future

STC Group and Huawei have launched a new “Green Telco Cloud” platform aimed at transforming telecom infrastructure into a more energy-efficient and sustainable system. The cloud-native solution integrates computing, storage, and networking into a unified environment designed to reduce physical hardware use and energy consumption. Built on Huawei’s advanced cloud architecture, the system features dynamic power management, automated resource shutdown, and carbon tracking analytics through a centralized dashboard. Joint trials reportedly showed up to 20 percent lower energy use and a 40 percent reduction in infrastructure requirements. The initiative supports next-generation services like 5G-Advanced while helping operators cut emissions and improve operational efficiency, aligning with broader industry goals for low-carbon digital transformation.

O2 and Mavenir Trial Network-Based Hearing Technology to Improve Call Clarity

O2 has completed a proof-of-concept trial with Mavenir to test innovative network-based technology designed to improve phone call quality for people with hearing loss. The solution works within O2’s mobile network, allowing users to continue using their existing phone numbers and devices without requiring additional apps or hardware.

Participants first completed an automated hearing assessment that created a personalized hearing profile linked securely to their mobile number. During calls, the technology adjusted speech audio in real time based on individual hearing needs, making conversations clearer and easier to understand. The trial delivered promising results, with nearly 90 percent of participants reporting improved call clarity. Users also experienced reduced listening effort, fewer misunderstandings, and a more natural calling experience. Although still in its early stages, the trial highlights the potential of network-based accessibility solutions to enhance everyday communication for people with hearing impairments.
