Navi Mumbai Airport Ordered to Open Doors for Telecom Networks

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has directed Adani Airport Holdings to permit private telecom operators like Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea to install and operate their own telecom infrastructure at Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) under the Right of Way (RoW) framework of the Telecommunications Act, 2023 and the Telecommunications (Right of Way) Rules, 2024. DoT clarified that NMIA qualifies as a “public entity” under the Act, obligating it to grant fair, non‑discriminatory, and transparent RoW permissions for network deployment. Previously, the airport had required operators to use its in‑building network at high charges, limiting mobile connectivity for passengers and prompting complaints from industry bodies like the Cellular Operators Association of India.

Telecom Tower Boom: Latin America Gears Up for 5G Expansion

The Latin America Telecom Towers (LATAM) Market is projected to grow strongly through 2031, driven by rising 4G/5G deployments, rural connectivity efforts, and sustainable infrastructure upgrades. Key developments in early 2026 include American Tower Corporation acquiring 1,200 towers in Brazil and Crown Castle partnering with Mexican operators to enhance coverage. Cellnex Telecom completed installations of energy‑efficient towers in Colombia, while IHS Towers divested roughly 8,860 sites in Brazil and Colombia to Macquarie Asset Management. Brazil leads market share, followed by Mexico and Argentina, with investments in hybrid solutions and green technology further accelerating growth.
