1Finity Strengthens New Mexico’s Rural Broadband Backbone
1Finity’s IPoDWDM technology is powering the expansion of New Mexico’s statewide middle-mile fiber network, strengthening broadband connectivity for rural communities. The NM Fiber Network, built by combining regional fiber assets from nine local telecommunications companies, is deploying 1Finity optical and networking systems to create a unified, resilient infrastructure. The solution includes Ultra Optical System line systems, open routers and network control technology, with support from UfiSpace and IP Infusion. The upgraded network currently supports transport services from 1G to 400G and is designed to scale to 800G and beyond as bandwidth requirements increase. The deployment is improving interconnection with national networks while supporting enterprise, carrier transport and data-driven services across New Mexico.
Quectel Brings Android 16 to Next-Generation 4G and 5G IoT Devices
Quectel has introduced two Android 16 smart modules designed to accelerate the development of 4G and 5G industrial and commercial IoT devices. The SH602FA targets high-performance 4G applications, while the SE505FE brings 5G Sub-6GHz connectivity to a broader range of connected products. Both modules combine Android 16 with integrated wireless connectivity and multimedia capabilities, reducing hardware and software development complexity. The SH602FA supports LTE Cat 4, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1 and GNSS, while the SE505FE adds 5G Sub-6GHz, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and GNSS. Applications include industrial terminals, smart gateways, robotics, digital signage, AR/VR devices, wearables and intelligent video platforms, helping manufacturers shorten development and deployment cycles.
Bharti Airtel Faces ₹1.05 Lakh DoT Penalty Over Subscriber Verification
Bharti Airtel has agreed to pay a ₹1.05 lakh penalty imposed by the Department of Telecommunications following violations of subscriber verification requirements. The action stems from a Customer Application Form audit conducted for June 2026 by the DoT’s Uttar Pradesh (East) Licensed Service Area. The regulator found that Airtel had not adequately verified certain customers before enrolling them as subscribers, contrary to its licence conditions. Airtel received the regulatory notice on August 24 and has decided not to contest the order. The company said the financial impact is limited to the penalty amount.
