OnMobile Global, a provider of telecom
value-added services (VAS) has entered into an agreement with Unitel, a mobile
operator in Angola, to launch Ring Back Tones (RBT) for Unitel’s subscribers in
Africa.
In a brief time span of just 90 days, the
service increased significantly witnessing a penetration rate of 8 percent.
OnMobile Global deployed a Ring Back Tone
platform for Unitel that allows users to set a song to replace the standard tone that is usually
heard by callers while they wait for their call to be answered.
OnMobile‘s RBT based products with their easy
search, content discovery and single download options identified the
subscribers’ inherent love for music and also offered an opportunity for them
to personalize their mobile usage.
“After achieving such penetration in the
Angolan market, it became evident that the market is sophisticated enough to
consume the innovative services that Unitel is capable to deliver. The
partnership with OnMobile, together with Unitel’s deep knowledge of the local
market needs, the RBT music service is now a case study,” said Miguel Martins,
CEO and Board Member of Unitel.
“OnMobile is extremely pleased about the
partnership with Unitel. The initial numbers and success achieved bear
testimony to the immense potential of this venture. We are hoping that our
ability to innovate in any market that we operate in combined with our cutting
edge products will pave the way for enhancing our product portfolio and help
introduce a wider range of products for Unitel subscribers,” said Arvind Rao,
CEO, chairman & co-founder, OnMobile.
OnMobile also hopes to provide further RBT
features, capitalizing on its highly advanced platforms to craft a personalized
music service for Unitel subscribers. The music content services provided are
be both local and international in flavor to appeal to all categories of
subscribers and provide a variety of options that makes the user experience a
highly enjoyable and customized one.
