Spirent unveils new testing technology bundles for mobile device designers

Spirent Communications announced the launch of a new product offering for mobile device
designers and developers.
The Spirent CS8 Wireless Device Design Tester, targeted at engineers who design cellular phones, tablets, data cards and machine-to-machine cellular modules, bundles network emulation with innovative testing software and subject matter expertise into a package that addresses the needs of design engineers.
“CS8 is about delivering our performance testing and rapid test case development technology, which until recently were available only in our network operator solutions, into the hands of the design engineer,” said Spirent vice-president Hesham ElHamahmy.
“In fact, by offering purpose-specific software, interfaces and other components, this one
platform can be used at every stage of the development process, from RF or baseband design to system-level DVT,” ElHamahmy added.

The CS8’s Interactive Tester includes a network-grade Evolved Packet Core (EPC) that was
originally developed to test 3G and 4G/LTE network equipment. Using the same EPC testing solution that is relied upon by infrastructure vendors to verify their network equipment provides immense advantages over using a fixed script-based EPC.
