Solution providers to generate $150 billion in 6 years from enterprise mobile apps

Mobile apps for enterprises will generate
more than $150 billion globally for solution providers over the next six years.

Enterprises across many vertical industries
are adopting various wireless-capable applications such as VoIP calling with
fixed mobile convergence capabilities; e-mail and instant messaging; mobile
conferencing and collaboration software; machine-to-machine communications; and
mobile sales force automation programs in order to grow their sales, improve
customer support, and reduce operational costs.

Enterprise mobility solutions will generate
nearly $40 billion in annual sales for applications developers by 2016. In
addition, mobile operator revenues associated with these solutions will grow
proportionately, according to Insight Research Corp.

“Mobility solutions are dominating
enterprise IT development programs, as companies rush to support their
expanding mobile workforce,” said Fran Caulfield, research director at
Insight Research.

“While the proliferation of
smartphones and tablets in the enterprise has improved employee productivity,
mobility has also increased the complexity of managing solutions. More
features, higher bandwidth, and lower latency are table stakes, and only the
application developers and service providers that can surpass meet these
demands will prosper,” Caulfield added.
