SC rejects telecom service providers’ petitions

The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a bunch of petitions of telecom service providers for extension of their existing licences in various circles across the country.

“No merit in the petition,” said an apex court bench headed by Justice J. Chelameswar while dismissing the batch of petitions.

Various telecom companies, among them Bharti Airtel, Idea, Vodafone and Reliance, moved the court seeking extension of their licences in different circles, which are about to expire.
