Qtel Group names new acting CEO of Wataniya Kuwait

Telecom Lead Middle East: Qtel Group has named Abdulaziz
Fakhroo, deputy CEO of Wataniya Kuwait as the new acting CEO of Wataniya
Kuwait.

 

Qtel owns 52.5 percent of NMTC Kuwait, which is also
known as Wataniya Kuwait. Wataniya Kuwait has operations in Kuwait, Tunisia,
Algeria, Palestine, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Maldives.

 

Earlier, Scott Gegenheimer was serving the company as general
manager and chief executive officer. He decided to leave Wataniya Kuwait to
pursue other opportunities. Scott joined Qtel Group in 2002 as chief financial
officer of subsidiary Tunisiana, before being named as general manager and
chief executive officer of Wataniya Telecom in January 2008.

 

Before Wataniya, Fakhroo was serving Qtel Qatar as
executive director for Technology and senior manager for Wireless Networks,
playing a key role in the commercial and technical development of many
cornerstone technologies.

 

Fakhroo has associated with Qtel for more than 20 years
and has been a member of the Executive Management team in Qatar.

 

Additionally, he has also held the position of Chairman
of GSM Arab World.

Wataniya Telecom deploys Huawei Internet cache solution


Recently, Wataniya Telecom deployed Huawei’s Internet Cache solution on
Wataniya Telecom’s Networks Infrastructure. The company is focusing on advancing
in two key areas including mobile broadband service deployment and evolution to
LTE mobile technology.
