Airtel gets 3G / 4G license in Tchad, Africa

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has received 3G / 4G license in Tchad, Africa.

This is the first 3G / 4G license – granted the license through the Ministry of Posts and New Information Technologies — in Tchad.

Airtel will be rolling out the latest HSPSA+ technology, offering speeds of up to 21 mbps.

The African telecoms will be targeting multinationals, enterprises, SMEs and the youth.

Airtel did not share its 3G / 4G roll out and investment plans.

“Mobile devices, using either 3G or even 2.5G EDGE networks, are already the main platform for internet access in Africa, allowing people to bypass the limited reach of the fixed broadband network,” said Christian de Faria, CEO of Airtel Africa.

Airtel is already offering Internet services across Africa with its footprint across 17 African countries.
