Fashion TV selects SatLink Communications

Fashion TV has selected SatLink Communications to playout, uplink and stream its HD channel onto AsiaSat 5.

FTV will be utilizing SatLink’s Playout, Digital Archival and uplink services as their gateway to the Asian market to reach out to Asia’s Pay TV platforms across the continent over the AsiaSat 5 satellite.

SatLink will provide Fashion TV with HD Playout services and digital archiving from its center in Tel Aviv, Israel, and uplinking to AsiaSat-5 satellite located at 100.5 East to broadcast to Asia-Pacific mass markets including India, China and Indonesia.

“Using our broadcasting services, we will continue to provide this gateway both in and out of Asia on the region’s premium satellite platform,” said David Hochner, CEO of SatLink Communications.

SatLink operates two full C-band transponders on AsiaSat 5; a cost effective DVB-S2 MCPC platform, which delivers higher throughput and greater bandwidth efficiency, and a DVB-S platform that enables customers to benefit from high quality content contribution and distribution solutions to the Asia Pacific region.

The Playout service SatLink is providing with FTV Asian HD feed includes managed services including graphics, multi-language crawls, subtitles and commercials insertion adjusted to FTV’s Asian audience. SatLink will be providing Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) streaming to YouTube as well as encryption services using a Viaccess system.

Broadcasting across five continents, FTV pushes content out using 530 different TV platforms, which includes mobile and IPTV, whilst catering for 20 million monthly viewers via its YouTube channel alone.
