StarGroup, a leading telecoms and entertainment service provider in Mexico, has selected Eutelsat Communications for StarTV, its Direct-to-Home (DTH) pay-TV service.
Under this multi-year agreement announced today, additional Ku-band transponders on EUTELSAT 117 West B will be used to further develop StarTV’s DTH services. The EUTELSAT 117 West B satellite, co-located with EUTELSAT 117 West A, has established 117° West as one of the premium broadcast neighbourhoods for Latin America over the past decade.
Jose Aguirre, President and CEO of StarTV, said: “Eutelsat has enabled StarTV to deliver low-cost pay-TV services across Mexico. In addition to being a satellite provider, Eutelsat has been a partner in designing services that enrich our entertainment offering and enhance our customer experience.”
“The development of DTH services in the Americas is a strategic objective for Eutelsat and we are able to leverage our 117° West video neighbourhood to expand the pay-TV offering in Mexico and beyond,” said Jose Ignacio Gonzalez-Nunez, Eutelsat Americas Video Senior Vice President.
