DISH Network reveals drop in revenue and net income in Q1

DISH Network posted revenue of $3.68 billion ($3.83 billion) and net income of $376 million ($400 million) in the first quarter ended March 31, 2017.

Subscriber-related revenue for the quarter was $3.64 billion against $3.78 billion in the year-ago period.

DISH activated approximately 547,000 new Pay-TV subscribers against approximately 657,000 in the prior year’s first quarter. Net Pay-TV subscribers declined approximately 143,000 in the first quarter, compared to a decline of approximately 23,000 in the first quarter 2016.

The company closed the first quarter with 13.528 million Pay-TV subscribers against 13.874 million Pay-TV subscribers in the first quarter 2016.

DISH Network said pay-TV ARPU was $86.55 against $87.94. Pay-TV subscriber churn rate was 1.69 percent versus 1.63 percent in the first quarter of 2016.

DISH lost approximately 25,000 broadband subscribers in the first quarter, bringing its broadband subscriber base to approximately 555,000.
