Vodafone UK receives ISO 27001 certification

Vodafone UK on Thursday said it has received ISO 27001 certification, the international standard for information security management in the UK.

LRQA, a member of the Lloyd’s Register group, has awarded the certification.

The certification applies to the delivery of mobile voice and data services across Vodafone’s UK network. It confirms the company has a robust set of policies and controls in place to ensure the secure management of its customer data, as well as a mature risk assessment process, said Vodafone UK in a statement.

Recently, Vodafone became the first telecoms firm in the U.K. to achieve a UK Government Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation.

Howard Pinto, head of Technology Security at Vodafone UK, said: “Our standing as a trusted partner to the public sector means ISO 27001 is an essential part of our portfolio, but also means we can help organizations uphold their integrity and reputation as they face much more sophisticated security threats than ever before.”

The ISO 27001 certificate in Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) assists organisations to securely manage financial information, intellectual property and employee details, and applies to people, processes and IT systems.

Earlier, Vodafone received ISO certifications in quality management (ISO 9001) and business continuity (ISO 22301).
