Vodafone fixes broadband issue after hours of downtime

Vodafone said it resolved an outage that impacted thousands of its home broadband service users in the United Kingdom, after hours of downtime.
Vodafone Germany mobile networkVodafone UK earlier revealed its engineers have identified the issue affecting customers and are working to resolve the problem.

“We have fixed the issue impacting just over 1 percent of our home broadband customers. Customers should already be seeing their connectivity return,” Vodafone said in an emailed statement.

Vodafone has about 1.2 million broadband customers in the UK. Vodafone told BBC that the outage affected only 1 percent of its 1.1 million British customers and that all reported issues have been repaired.

According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, users experienced issues with the service from about 07:00 GMT.

Last week telecoms firm Virgin Media experienced broadband outages in Britain, with tens of thousands of customers reporting internet access problems.

Vodafone claims to pay out £9.33 for each day broadband and home phone services are not repaired after two full days of no service. Vodafone will pay £29.15 for each missed appointment, or for appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, plus you’ll get £5.83 for each calendar day delay to the start of the new service.
