Vodafone data network reaches 5,400 towns and villages in North East

Vodafone brand strategyVodafone India said its mobile data network has reached 5,400 plus towns and villages covering seven states in Assam & North East Circle.

Vodafone has also rolled out 2,750 plus sites to expand and strengthen its data network, addressing its 5.5 million customers across the circle, since January 2017. The company did not reveal financial details for expanding the network.

Vodafone has also laid down 600 plus KMs of fibre network in last one year, taking the total spread to over 8,000 plus KMs across the circle.

“Using the latest technologies, we have created additional capacity and built a smart, robust and resilient data network,” Nidhi Lauria, business head – Assam & North East, Vodafone India, said.

Vodafone has also doubled the 4G bandwidth capacity of more than 840 plus cell sites across Assam & North East by adding 5 MHz more spectrum in the existing band.

Vodafone India offers direct and indirect employment opportunities to over 70,000 citizens, 90 percent of whom are local residents from seven states. Representation of women in overall Vodafone workforce in Assam & North East has moved up from 16 percent to 24 percent in last two years.
