Telefonica taps Assia to improve network performance in South American telecom markets

Telecom service provider (telecoms) Telefonica has tapped Assia improve network performance and customer care in select South American nations including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru.

The new DSL network management contract is an extension of an existing deal signed in 2010. The new deal covers more than eight million customer lines globally.

Assia is a portfolio company of Telefonica.

As per the deal, Telefonica will deploy the DSL Expresse real-time line optimization module for proactive line repair.

In addition, the telecom operator will utilize ClearView, a customer-care recommendation engine that presents comprehensive customer line and service information to customer-care professionals through an easy-to-use interface, enabling them to provide the fastest-possible responses and resolutions to customer calls.

“We are pleased to incorporate the latest DSL Expresse features, which reinforce the value of our operations and technical assistance tools in improving service performance and customer care, as well as reducing our maintenance costs,” said Enrique Blanco, global CTO of Telefonica.

Two days back, Telefonica Spain selected tapped Juniper Networks for deploying its wireline IP broadband access platform. The telecom operator utilized Juniper Networks MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers.
