Multiplay service revenue in India is projected to grow steadily from $2.4 billion in 2024 to $3 billion in 2029, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 4.2 percent. This growth aligns with the continuous increase in the number of households subscribing to multiplay services.

One of the primary factors driving this trend is the expansion of fiber-optic networks by service providers, which enhances the reach and availability of high-speed broadband services. As more consumers gain access to these services, they are increasingly opting for bundled packages that offer broadband along with additional services, presenting potential cost benefits and greater convenience.
In 2024, doubleplay bundles — comprising two services such as broadband and telephony — dominated the market, making up 78.4 percent of all multiplay households. Tripleplay bundles, which typically include broadband, telephony, and pay-TV, held a 12.2 percent share, while quadplay bundles accounted for 9.4 percent.
Among these, doubleplay remains the most popular, supported by major operators like Airtel, Jio, and BSNL, who bundle unlimited voice calling with their broadband plans. For instance, Jio offers dual play plans with unlimited data at speeds of up to 30Mbps and unlimited telephony, starting at INR 399 per month, according to GlobalData report.
Although doubleplay services will continue to hold the largest market share throughout the forecast period, their dominance is expected to decline gradually as more customers move toward tripleplay and quadplay options. The tripleplay segment, in particular, is expected to grow rapidly at a CAGR of 16.6 percent, driven by India’s sizable pay-TV subscriber base, which is increasingly drawn to service bundles that integrate broadband, television, and voice calling.
In response, service providers have been promoting these bundles by offering discounts and access to OTT platforms. For example, Bharti Airtel’s 699 Black plan includes fiber broadband with speeds up to 40Mbps, DTH services valued at Rs 260, access to over 18 OTT apps such as JioHotstar and Airtel Xstream, and unlimited landline calling.
In 2024, Reliance Jio led the multiplay market in terms of household subscriptions, followed by Bharti Airtel. Jio’s leadership position is largely attributed to its extensive fiber-optic infrastructure and a broad fiber broadband customer base, which it efficiently converts into multiplay subscribers.
