“Our partnership with Aptilo enables us to deploy access to the internet for our wireless customers,” said Masafumi Masada, chief technology officer (CTO) of Docomo Pacific.

Aptilo Networks will supply Aptilo Service Management Platform (SMP) to manage carrier-class Wi-Fi services. Aptilo SMP enables seamless authentication into the Wi-Fi network, which includes 1,000 hotspots in public areas, hotels, hospitals and apartment complexes.

Aptilo said its multi-tenancy capabilities allow hotel guests to roam between properties without multiple logins. Users authenticated at one hotel will be recognized for Wi-Fi access at another hotel in the same chain.

In addition, users can register devices through customized portals. Non-Docomo Pacific users can register their Wi-Fi devices on the network by purchasing a temporary account or entering a prepaid voucher code.

Additionally, the flexibility of Aptilo SMP allows Docomo Pacific’s hospital and hotel customers to accommodate the Wi-Fi requirements of each property. Each property can then offer their own Wi-Fi services for a fee.

John Robinson, sales director, North America, Aptilo Networks, played a key role in the Wi-Fi deal.
